What's so special about Walton PTSA?

  • We logged over 8500 hours of volunteer time last year helping Walton faculty and staff.
  • We produce high quality parent newsletters.
  • We send out pertinent and timely e-mails to keep everyone informed.
  • We worked with and sponsored the newly designed Walton Website!
  • We host three sessions of "Walton 101" for incoming freshman parents.
  • We welcome newcomers and transfer students with our Newcomer's Committee.
  • We organize the "Raider Pride Awards", and sponsor two "Raider Pride" scholarships for seniors.
  • We have three voting members who serve on the Walton Governance Council.
  • We have beautified the front entrance to Walton with awesome landscaping.
  • We provide daily volunteers for the front office, the media center, PPO, and the Copy Crew.
  • We provide guidance office volunteers during advisement and book distribution volunteers each semester.
  • We provide informative Parent Education Programs.
  • We collect and organize the judging of our entries to the National PTA "Reflections" Program.
  • We take a group of students to visit a local prison with PTA's "Consequences of Crime" program.
  • We encourage students to be drug free with our programs for "Prom Promise", "Red Ribbon Week", and the "Great American Smokeout".
  • We monitor legislation affecting children and lobby according to PTA legislative priorities.
  • We publish the Student Directory and the PTSA Calendar full of important dates and information.
  • We encourage and organize students to volunteer through Community Outreach committee.
  • We sponsor the "PROBE College Fair" at Northpoint Mall every fall.
  • We work with students to design and organize the "Evening of Inspiration" for seniors each year.
  • We help organize and staff the Senior Breakfast and Senior Picnic each year.
  • We perform Hearing and Vision testing each fall.
  • We appreciate our teachers and staff with: Teacher Appreciation Week, a Back to School luncheon in August and a holiday luncheon during December.
  • We organize a Book Fair to sell required summer reading books every May.
  • We sponsor the annual Jackie Auerbach Award to a deserving faculty and staff member who instills school spirit!
